A Million Spitting Lips

Everyone zones in on a singular body part when first meeting people - What color their eyes are, how their hair looks, their smell... For me, it's the lips. Since a kid I have always looked at a persons mouth before all else when meeting them... Sometimes I have a hard time with eye contact, and I will block out all other images of person but their lips. In interactions where I'm too nervous, all I am left with is a still image of lips, my only impression.

I molded air dry white clay onto a stretched canvas and then built off of that with more air dry clay (using lots of warm water in small portions for molding). I painted everything I sculpted using acrylic paints and then used rhinestones and jewelry connectors to make the piercings. I put colors next to each other that are opposites to make the piece pop in specific sectioned areas.
