Don't Cry over Spilled Milk

Project type

Illustration

Date

2024

Location

New York City

8 x 8 in.

Oil painting done on Bristol paper about becoming unsatisfied with life before even being given a reason. The character in the picture is very hungry. He cries and gets angry over a glass of spilling milk out the window behind him, which has nothing to do with him really... yet his mood is still ruined. It's a hint to how some seek for a reason to be angered, thinking it will aid what the real issue is. People look for correlation in things that just don't... the character is hungry and sees food being wasted, so his day is ruined, but that milk was never meant for him in the first place.

I wanted this piece to be very shape oriented, and have lots of lines that become never ending/ bend in an incorrect proportion (tear, nail, etc..)
