Mixed media painting detailing the feelings of never knowing what's the right person to be.. what mask to wear that day. The painting is of multiple melted, mutilated characters being combine, sucked into one.
I painted everything in oil on a 24 x 24 canvas, and then cut out all the negative space with an exact-o knife. The now exposed frame border parts of the stretched canvas were covered in a mosaic frame that I made using clay, mosaic stones, and acrylic paint. After this I poked holes and added chains through the negative space to enhance that feeling of being bound. Aside from all of this, I used a poster board the same size as the canvas, and covered it in clay, stones, gems, and mosaic tiles, just like the frame. I did not paint this one though, I left the burnt sienna color. After this I adhered that back to the first canvas, so that the mosaic could shine through the remaining negative space. Lastly, I finished the bored with a black fur outline to make it feel alive... as if the canvas was becoming the painting, and or, vice versa.
